Patrick Flynn Interview – Database Corruption Challenge
After 10 weeks (or almost weekly) of corrupt databases, missing data and a challenging competition the Database Corruption Challenge finally comes to an end. As part of the last week of the challenge I created a short blog interview for the participants. This interview is Patrick Flynn.

What compelled you to want to participate in the Database Corruption Challenge?
Patrick: I came across the Database Corruption Challenge while I was stuck at home recovering from badly injuring my foot. I initially began participating to help pass time while I was recovering but then got interested in the opportunity to learn more about internals of SQL Server.
What did you find the most interesting in the Database Corruption Challenge?
Patrick: The opportunity to do a deep dive into the internal structures of SQL Server. Also seeing some of the alternative approaches used
What did you learn in the Database Corruption Challenge?
Patrick: I gained a much greater understanding of DBCC PAGE, DBCC WRITEPAGE and even DBCC CHECKDB
How many weeks did you participate in the Database Corruption Challenge?
Patrick: I participated in final nine challenges. I could solve Challenge 1 but did not find it until after the closing date
