SQL Saturday 166 Olympia

I am looking forward to SQL Saturday #166 in Olympia on November 10th.  Close enough to home that I can drive, but far enough away that I can make a weekend out of it.

I have prepared the following four sessions for SQL Saturday 166 in Olympia Washington.

Exploring the TSQL Enhancements in SQL Server 2012

This is a fun one, lots of information to cover in one hour, including —OVER Clause Enhancements, —IIF and CHOOSE—OFFSET / FETCH, —FORMAT, CONCAT, —SEQUENCE, —sp_describe_first_result_set, —New Date and Time Functions, PARSE, TRY_PARSE, TRY_CONVERT, and —THROW exception.

Unleashing Common Table Expressions in SQL Server

One of my favorites… Even 7 years after Common Table Expressions were introduced to SQL Server, they are still one of those unknown areas for many developers and DBA’s.

Onsite Presentations – Thursday / Friday

Since I will be travelling to Olympia, I will be available on Friday for any private onsite presentations at a reasonable rate.  Let me know if you are interested.

Sponsor:

I have also decided to be a sponsor for SQL Saturday 166 in Olympia.

The following presentations where ideas, but not accepted. Maybe next time.

Using the New Analytic Functions in SQL Server 2012

This was originally part of my TSQL Enhancements in SQL Server 2012, but that was just too much to cover in an hour long presentation.   This session will be an hour long focused only on the TSQL Analytic functions introduced in SQL Server 2012.

  SQL Server Performance for Developers

After years of training people on performance tuning, this is a new session with loads of new content developed in June of 2012 to make it easier for developers to get started on performance tuning, and understanding the big picture of performance tuning.
