CrowdStrike, a prominent cybersecurity company, experienced a significant outage that affected many of its users worldwide including airlines, banks, and 911 dispatch centers. The CrowdStrike issue caused the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) on many windows servers. The fix appears to be to connect in safe mode and rename some folders in order to get the server up and running again.
At Stedman Solutions, we have monitoring on our clients SQL Server that regularly report in a status or health check to our central monitoring servers.
Just after Midnight on July 19, 2024 Derrick detected that the servers for one of our clients were no longer reporting, and after investigation realized that they may be impacted by the CrowdStrike issue. He informed the team that they may be impacted by CrowdStrike. Derrick and Steve were able to analyze our reporting and determine the clients who were likely being affected by the CrowdStrike outage, and informed them around 1am (pacific time) by phone call, voicemail and/or text messages.
We were able to help repair some clients and for others informed them of the outage so that they could start their recovery process. We are here to assist if any of our clients need any help.
