Getting that New Team Member Started with SQL Server
So you have a new team member that has just joined your team, and they have no experience with SQL Server, but they need to learn how to get connected and use SQL Server. There are a few options on what you can do:
- Sit with them and walk through all the details around installing a local server and using SQL Server Management Studio. This will take up lots of your valuable time.
- Assign some other team member to show them how to use SQL Server. Just taking up someone elses time.
- Tell them to just download things and figure it out. This will likely take them more time than it should, and they may not figure it out.
There is a better solution. I have created a Getting Started with SQL Server class that we sell for just $19.99. At that price even it if saves you just an hour of your time, it is probably worth it.
The class can usually be completed in under 4 hours, and by the end of that time the attendee should have SQL Server installed on their local computer, Management Studio installed with some sample databases, and be able to write some simple queries to add or find data.
What We’ll Cover
- Intro to SQL Server
- Installing SQL Server
- Installing SSMS
- Installing Sample Databases
- Tour of SSMS & Sample Databases
- Writing Basic Queries
This class is designed to get people going with SQL Server quickly. It covers all the basics needed to get them going.
