Exciting New Features and Enhancements in the Latest Database Health Monitor Release (July 2024 – Version 1067)

Hello, Database Health Monitor users! We’re thrilled to announce the latest update, Version 1067, released today. This version brings a host of improvements and new features designed to enhance your experience and make database management even more efficient. Here’s a detailed look at what’s new and improved:

Bug Fixes

Date Sorting and Formatting:

    • We’ve resolved an issue with sorting dates in the grids throughout Database Health Monitor. The formatting for the text version of date times has also been enhanced, ensuring a more consistent and readable display.

SQL Server 2022 Inventory Report bug:

      • A bug in the inventory report that caused SQL Server 2022 to be reported as an unknown version has been fixed. You can now accurately track and report on SQL Server 2022 instances.

      Filename Characters in VLF Advisor:

        • Issues with periods or other unusual characters in filenames for shrinking and expanding virtual log files (VLFs) have been addressed. The VLF Advisor is now more robust and handles filenames more effectively.

        Enhanced Security for Encrypted Items:

          • We’ve increased the security level for internally encrypted items by switching to a more secure option and removing 3DES. Your data’s security is our top priority.

          Permission-Related Report Access:

            • A bug where certain reports were accessible but failing due to incorrect user permissions has been fixed. You should now have a smoother experience accessing reports according to your permissions.

            Security Exploit Fix:

              • A potential security exploit introduced in system.txt.json version 8.0.3 has been addressed by upgrading to version 8.0.4. Your system is now more secure against this vulnerability.

              New Features

              Database File Size Tracking:

                • We have added tracking of all database file sizes over time as part of the historic monitoring feature. While it currently only tracks this information, the next step will be to introduce a report showing size trends over time, providing valuable insights into your database growth.

                QuickScan Report Enhancement:

                  • A new check (220) has been added to the QuickScan report to monitor the CommandLog table from Ola Hallagren’s scripts. This check helps ensure that the CommandLog table does not grow too large without being purged.

                  Historic Reporting Jobs Update:

                    • The historic reporting jobs have been updated to clean up the CPU table by deleting entries older than 60 days if no purge date is specified. This prevents unlimited growth and keeps your data storage efficient.

                    Large Table Report:

                      • A new report identifies large tables containing images that could be compressed to free up disk space. This feature helps optimize your storage by highlighting opportunities for compression.

We’re excited about these updates and believe they will significantly enhance your database management capabilities. As always, we appreciate your feedback and support. Download the latest version today and experience these improvements firsthand!

Stay tuned for more updates and happy monitoring!
