Getting Started with SQL Server?
Everyone has their story of how they got started with SQL Server, and they range quite a bit. You might be that developer that was sitting too close to the SQL Server and someone named you the DBA. For others it may have been part of starting at a new job. For some you may have learned it in school, however I have found that most university level programs don’t cover enough SQL Server to make it worthwhile.
For me, I got started with SQL Server version 1.1 when I took a 5 day SQL Server class in December of 1990 on writing TSQL and accessing the database from inside of a program. I was lucky, I happened to be working at Microsoft about a year after they acquired the SQL Server product and rebranded it on their own. I know that most people don’t have that opportunity, so I have created another option.
