At Stedman Solutions, even prior to Covid we have encouraged that all team members work from home. We have no office space that we rent, although the team does have great office space in their homes. Also since most of our work is remote, we very rarely go onsite with customers, the home office environment works great.

Having gone through a really snowy week in the pacific northwest, not one employee had to miss work due to the snow, and nobody had to risk any driving in the snow to get to work.

The drawback is the occasionally power outage, we have probably lost 1 to 2 partial days per team member on average due to power outages over a year. Surprising the people who live closer in the city have had more outages than me, and I live more remote than anyone else on the team.

One thing that helps a great deal with the work life balance is the lack of any type of commute. Nobody spends 30 minutes each way or an hour each way in their car in order to work. This is a huge win for the team in my opinion.

The other thing that helps with the work life balance is the flexibility of working from home. If you need to do something like meet with a contractor fixing something at your house, or receive a delivery, it is just a few minute break, rather than taking time away from “the office” where you need to drive home, then drive back to work.

Overall Covid has not had too much of an impact on the day to day operations of our business, there are a couple local customers that we no longer meet with in person, or if we do it is very rare. Stedman Solutions had been working mostly virtual for about 4 years prior to Covid, and what Covid actually did was help some of our customers better understand that working virtual is just fine in todays interconnected world.

All this helps the Stedman Solutions team bring a higher level of service to our customers while giving a better work life balance to every team member.
